Pathway to Certification

Thank you for your interest in training with Intimacy Coordinators Canada. 

 

We are no longer accepting applications for our

Level 3 IC Training program scheduled to run in 2024*.

Level 1 is a 4-week online course to solidify the foundations of intimacy work in performance. Level 1 is open to any and all, regardless of plans to work toward the full certification.

Currently Level 2 is being hosted by our affiliate - Intimacy Directors & Coordinators .

Level 2 is a 6-week online course exploring intermediate applications of intimacy work. Level 2 is open to anyone who has completed Level 1, regardless of plans to work towards the full certification.

In Level 3, candidates transition from learning foundational ideas to the specific hands-on details of what it takes to be an Intimacy Coordinator.

This program consists of

12-weeks of online training starting in January 2024* and two in-person weekend workshops held in Toronto (dates TBD).

Admission into the Level 3 program with ICC is by application only.

Level 4 aims to provide professional support as you begin working professionally in the industry as an Intimacy Coordinator (IC).

Level 4 offers 20 hours of one-on-one Mentorship, and the opportunity to shadow one of our senior ICs on set.

 

Successful completion of Level 4 results in certification with ICC.

Admission into the Level 4 program with ICC is by application only.

Program fee $2500.00

PREREQUISITES

Please ensure you have all prerequisites before applying to ICC for the Level 3 or Level 4 program.

  • Completed Level 1 & 2 Intimacy Coordinator training program through IDC professionals

  • Minimum of 300 hours, 5 years, or 15 show credits working on film & television sets, ideally in a Directorial, Choreography, or Coordinator position 

  • Experience in movement instruction or coaching

  • Experience with in-person Acting workshops and/or training for Performers

  • Gender and Sexuality training

  • Anti-oppression training

  • Mental health first aid (and subsequent MHFA working with minors) training and background

  • Current legal ability to work in Canada

Recommended training:

  • Sexual education advocacy courses and background

  • Trauma informed training

APPLICATION DETAILS
for Level 3 & Level 4 programs with ICC
We are not currently accepting applications for our Level 3 program.

  • Resume of related experience (ie: on set experience, movement coaching, advocacy etc.)

  • 3 (Three) Letters of Recommendation from industry professionals in related industries

  • Letter of Intent: Outline your connection to intimacy work, the skills you bring, and your current challenges related to the work

  • Entrance exam: There will be a comprehension exam required for application into the Level 4 program with Intimacy Coordinators Canada. Exam will be issued upon receipt of application

  • Applications for Level 4 are ongoing

  • $50.00 CAD Application fee for both the Level 3 and Level 4 programs

  • Application can be sent to workshops@intimacycoordinatorscanada.com

*Start date subject to change based on the status of the film industry

ICC has high standards for acceptance into the Level 3 and Level 4 training programs. In the case that these requirements (such as industry experience, or other training) are barriers to applicants due to race, ability, etc. ICC offers the opportunity for applicants to appeal the requirement by providing arguments for related skills, or life experience that qualify them for training.
